Track progress and retry failed images
When you process or restore a style, a banner on the Styles and Settings pages shows how the run is going. You can leave the page or close the app, the run continues in the background.
Progress banner

The banner shows:
- The stages of the run. A process has 3 stages: 1. Collecting images, 2. Processing images, 3. Updating Shopify. A restore has 2: 1. Collecting images, 2. Restoring on Shopify.
- A progress bar.
- How many images and products are done, and how many failed so far.
- The estimated time left.
Result banner
When the run finishes, the banner shows the result:
- Success (green): all images were updated, for example Applied "Square 1:1" to 120 images.
- Partial success (yellow): some images couldn't be updated. The banner lists them, see Failed images.
- Error (red): the run stopped. Your original images are unchanged where the update didn't finish. Try again.
Click × to close the banner.
Failed images
A failed image keeps its original photo. You can open the list of failed images from:
- The result banner, right after the run.
- The n failed badge in the style's Status column on the Styles page.
- The n failed badge in the Restore n images section on the Settings page (for restores by product or for the whole store).
Each row shows the product, the image position (for example image 2 of 5) and a Retry button. Click Retry for one image, or Retry all for every failed image.
If an image still fails after a retry, the row shows the reason and how to fix it:
| Reason | How to fix |
|---|---|
| We couldn't download this image from Shopify. | Check the image still exists on the product, then retry. |
| This image's format isn't supported (for example HEIC) or the file is damaged. | Re-upload it as JPG or PNG in Shopify, then retry. |
| The style's effects couldn't be applied to this image. | Check the style's settings (e.g. watermark, crop size), then retry. |
| The processed image couldn't be saved. | This is usually temporary, retry. |
| Shopify rejected the image update. | Check the product in Shopify, then retry. |
| Shopify couldn't process the new image file. | This is usually temporary, retry. |
| The original backup of this image couldn't be found. | This image can't be restored automatically. Re-upload the original in Shopify. |
| Something went wrong while updating this image. | Retry. If it keeps failing, contact [email protected]. |
Email notification
Enter your email in Settings > General > Email, then click Save. You get an email when a process or restore you started finishes with more than 30 images. Automatic updates of new product images don't send emails.
