How to update Wave theme

We regularly release updates for Wave that include new features, bug fixes, and compatibility improvements. Follow the steps below to update your theme.

Update from the Xotiny app​

If you installed Wave through our website, you can update using the Xotiny app:

  1. Open the Xotiny app in your Shopify admin.
  2. Go to Themes and find Wave.
  3. If an update is available, click Update.
  4. The app will install the latest version while keeping your customizations.

Update from the Shopify Theme Store​

If you installed Wave from the Shopify Theme Store:

  1. Go to Sales channels > Online store > Themes.
  2. In your Theme library, find the Wave theme.
  3. If an update is available, Shopify will show an update notification.
  4. Follow the prompts to update.

Before you update​

Important

Before updating, we recommend:

  • Back up your current theme: Go to your Theme library, click the ... menu on your current Wave theme, and select Duplicate. This creates a copy you can restore if needed.
  • Note your customizations: If you've added custom CSS or modified theme code directly, document those changes so you can re-apply them after updating.
  • Check the changelog: Review the Changelog to see what's new in the latest version.

After updating​

After the update completes:

  1. Preview your store to make sure everything looks correct.
  2. Re-apply any custom code changes you documented before updating.
  3. Test key pages — homepage, product pages, cart, and checkout.
